Here are the logo designs we designed as part of brand identity design packages for clients in 2008.

We lead people to the core of what makes their business special. But more than that, we find out what people really care about.
If you can run your business from the heart, it shows. And that kind of energy is what we love to capture in our logo designs.

Sidelines
I thought I’d also mention we had a bunch of extracurricular projects, something new in 2008:
- hosting lunchtime seminars
- reporting on the arts versus condos debate in Capitol Hill
- making installation art
- throwing parties. See our events page
- making short films
Awards and recognitions
DK was nominated for a Mayors Small Business award this year.
We were also recognized as a premier sponsor for the placemaking advocacy nonprofit Allied Arts of Seattle’s fundraiser in October. DK helped Allied Arts of Seattle come up with its new name: The Public Square.
DK’s past work for nonprofits includes branding a healthcare reform initiative, and sponsoring a fundraiser for the Capitol Hill nonprofit Home Alive.
DK does branding
In 2008, Design Kompany stuck to our niche: branding.
The reason why we’re doing just branding—and not piecemeal graphic design “gigs”—is because DK is really good at listening.
Here’s why that’s important.
A good brand can only be built on a foundation of authenticity. We help people figure out what they’re really great at.
People don’t just come over to our office with a crystal clear idea of who they are and what they want to say: they ask DK to figure it out for them.
Listening carefully is the first step to hearing what you’re really saying.
Teambuilding
Since a big part of our process is teambuilding, when a new company is forming or an existing organization needs to regroup, DK is the ticket.
Reshaping software developer Matchbox Mobile’s image, for example. The team trusted DK enough to let us change the company name from “Research Creations” to “Matchbox.” We designed and built a new website, and designed business cards, too. So far, rave reviews.
Speaking of working with teams, when The Broader View asked DK to come up with a vision for the look and feel for their summer event, we knew our process was just the thing. We got everyone involved: their copywriter, and the heads of the two companies co-sponsoring the event. DK delivered a logo and invitation design that surpassed all of their expectations. You can read their testimonial here.
Professional service companies hire DK
In 2006 and 2007, we did a lot of work for architecture companies.
More building industry professionals hired DK this year. Zenovation is a Portland remodeler. And Joji Minatogawa Architects, Inc., and C’ODA are right here in Seattle.
I love architecture, but it’s been neat branding companies in other industries, too.
Gupta Insurance & Financial Services hired DK towards the end of 2007. In 2008 we worked out an advertising campaign, designing a website, designed business cards, and putting together the files for a banner for the Los Angeles-area financial and insurance advisors.
And we just posted about how we branded A1A, Inc., the orthopaedic sales company that’s stitched the logo onto bags. Check out the picture on this post.
