Design Kompany just made this logo as part of a brand identity package for a Seattle event set for June 19.
This June will see the first of what could be a series of Broader View events. So the challenge for DK was to find a common vision amongst a team of five people, each bringing a variety of fresh ideas and imagining all kinds of possibilities.
Creative director Akira Morita led the effort to create a visual theme, based on Design Kompany’s unique brand identity design method.
Here are some accolades from the Broader View team:
We are getting email and phone comments from women on the web site and invitations about the exquisite designs.
Thank you again for your patience and creativity in guiding the design process and for producing such beautiful branding for us. —Karen Armstead, Gobo Enterprises
Designing the invitation and website
To get into thinking about the experience of indulging in something beautiful, we shared some Sakura cookies with members of the team. Nobody does packaging like Japan.
In the end, we cut out all the extra layers but kept the essence of what this experience taught us: attention to detail, appealing colors, the anticipation of finding something remarkable inside.
And so, Design Kompany extended the concept for the logo to create this invitation and envelope design—

And this website:

[Editors note: Since the event, the website below has since been redesigned]

UPDATE: June 2008
We just got word that the event went terrifically!
Sounds like the conversations DK had with the Broader View team about the event’s “look and feel” carried over into designing the decor and event space.
Keeping the message consistent throughout: now that’s what we like to hear!
UPDATE: October 2008
The Broader View continues! Our former clients are hosting a series of events through the end of the year and through 2009. Check out this one, Breathe.
Design Kompany and our clients do a lot of talking about theme, message, audience and tone before putting pencil to paper. An idea that came out of the brainstorming sessions was to keep the basic template and motifs, but vary the color theme for future events.
And it looks like this is what they’ve decided to do!
