Design Kompany creates a new logo for Portland contractor

Sometimes the best way to tell a story is to say it straight.

When a Portland contractor commissioned Design Kompany to design a look for his new business, we knew simple and clear would be the way to go.

Of course, getting to the solution meant going through the Design Kompany method to understand the heart of what this company is all about:

Zenovation really values personal service, and reliability.

That’s where all the capital letters in the design above came from. Tall, bold caps say “confident” pretty much right away.

But since Zenovation is all about remodeling people’s homes–a very personal space–there was a second half of the equation to solve: How to convey “Portland,” “cozy,” and “warm“?

To soften the capitals, we picked a warm-toned color palette. Deep red on ochre. We’re also specifying for print production a Forest Stewardship Certified recycled paper stock. Even if it’s just a subtle decision, some people will notice it consciously, others unconsciously.

And every small detail brings home this message: for Zenovation, quality and attention to detail matter most.
