Atlantic School of English and Active Leisure asked DK to create a new logo for them. At the time, we were based in the same part of Ireland—southwest County Cork. We knew a lot about the appeal of the land because we were drawn to Ireland for the same reason people who might take up a course at the school would be. So we folded both the image of an Irish escape into the bigger marketing message for bringing people here to study.

This is the logo in the new Twitter page’s background. Love seeing the playfulness of the marketers to bring the identity design into the new digital communication era, while still maintaining brand integrity.

Here’s what Atlantic SEAL is up to now.

A year after we redesigned the look and feel for the logo and a brochure, Atlantic S.E.A.L.’s owner Barbara Connelly told us the number of students attending increased by at least 20%.”
Our design idea was to convey to those people in Europe and Asia who were curious about the school it’s best selling point: proximity to the ocean.
We found and took custom photo images to assemble a “mood,” which would set the tone for the overall brand messaging. Here are a few of those pictures:

The images and message are very well chosen and quite timeless,” Barbara says. “We’re confident we could not improve on this and will not need to update for many years. Many thanks for all your hard work and professionalism.”
UPDATE: April 2008
Wow.
While researching some content management systems (CMS) for the web, Design Kompany stumbled upon a company that featured Atlantic S.E.A.L.’s new website. With the logo on it that we’ve shared with you above!
Under their “showcase” section, ExpressionEngine lists a thumbnail and link to the website of Atlantic S.E.A.L.
And featured prominently thereupon, in a new and evolved design for their website, is the original logo Design Kompany created for them in 2004.
Talk about a blast from the past!
What’s cool about this is, despite all kinds of updates to their website as they reconsider how they want the world to perceive them, Altantic S.E.A.L. continues to use the brand identity and messaging scheme Design Kompany made. That was when we were a couple of miles up the road from them in West Cork, Ireland, in 2004. But thinking things through back then set the course for how Atlantic S.E.A.L. does all their marketing today.
Looks like things are prospering well for Atlantic S.E.A.L. Nice work, Barbara!
