Lightfoot Branding is live!
Lightfoot Branding is Design Kompany’s newest project. This one, though, is a little different; it doesn’t have a specific client. No, this one is not about getting a brief, steering conversations, and coming up with killer designs.
We want you to do it, yourself.
That’s right. For those who’re a bit nervous about taking the leap of faith to contract us, or any other designer/agency for his/her marketing, for that matter, we’ll share with you our methods and open the whole process for group discussions.
It’s like Branding: Open Source.
Or, as we like to call it: Lightfoot Branding.
Why “lightfoot”?
We believe branding as we know it–stamping logos everywhere, just make them all rigid and looking “professional” and people will start recognizing you–is long dead. We believe in frequency-tuning, not volume-amplifying. Branding should be flexible, adaptable… lightfoot.
Lightfoot, because branding should be fun and playful, in a good way. Because branding is trial-and-error, especially at the beginning, when you are operating on shoe-string budget.
Sure, we can tell you until our face is blue and red that branding is important, and you should allocate money as you would to outfitting your office or hiring a receptionist, etc. But all that’s not going to change your mind if your mind is made up.
And, not spending money upfront on your branding can be a good decision; It’s not easy to sink money into intangibles like a “brand” at the beginning. Better to float the idea, launch early and test.
So, we decided: if we want to help the burgeoning start-up and indy businesses out there like you, we’d better teach you to do it yourself well.
Start now, tweak later
Lightfoot is also about not locking everything in, so there will be room for your brand to be nurtured, groomed a bit, later. The important thing is your passion for your product/service, and that can be expressed on a paper napkin or on a slick exhibition-ready, laser-cut laminate wall. If the idea is good, and passion is there, you will get your message across.
In other words, the message and your authenticity comes first. And who knows about your authentic self more than anyone?
That’s right.
We now have several easy-to-follow how-to’s and tips there already. We will be adding more articles, tips, and links to other resources. Please feel free to send comments and suggestions as to what you would like to see there. We would love to hear from you!
Cheers,
