I just made this on Adobe Illustrator–it’s a floating 3D Three. Maybe that is very postmodern, but I’m not really sure what it means to say that, so I will refrain from venturing into the world of philosophical ramblings.
Anyways, we’re doing this branding project for a couple of really cool architects. They’re into using 3D software to present concept sketches to their clients–you know, quick sketches so you get a feel for how a space will look from different angles. So I am trying to get into the mode of thinking like they do. It’s really fun!
It’s not the first time I’ve tried to get into this mindset, though. Years ago I learned how to use this software called Microstation TriForma. We all got trained at my first job. The guy who taught us was mathy guy Samir Haque, who I think I remember played violin, too, and who got me really thinking about the world you can create in computer modeling.
“There, now see?” Samir said to our class. “Click here and you can change the intensity of the sun.”
It was so cool, I started going to short animations made in Maya whenever I found them, just to admire what people could do. We are all about getting into the zone at Design Kompany, which is why we spend a lot of time exploring things like how to make our 2D Illustrator program sort of mimic a 3D package. And stuff. –DK

You said contemporary dance intrigues you because it allows for the kind of expression one can’t always make in words. I feel the same about 2D imagery–even if it is a Flatland.
Sometimes the more you take away, the more informative the thing observed can really be. What I mean is, the more attention you can devote more fully to what is directly at hand, the better you can truly love it.
For how can humans know everything there is to know well? Better to enjoy the living moment, limited though our knowledge of “what is true and what exists” may be.
I should stop here. I feel I may be getting “pomo” again.

I got really into this one when I realized you have no idea what kind of scale this is. It could be like those little colored magnets you put on the fridge (did anyone else have that alphabet and number series?), or it could be the size of… Jupiter.
Jupiter, but shaped like an Arabic numeral ‘3′. Know what I’m sayin’?
Fun Stuff! 3 in numerology is considered a number of communication and of the communicator. It has effectively done that here. Thanks for the posts and comments. I especially like the orange tones you chose.
