On Saturday Design Kompany checked out the Seattle Art Museum’s new section, and after investigating where that crazy line of hanging starworks cars led (a room with two projectors telling the story of exploding light), I beelined to Contemporary Art.
I go up the escalator and bang!–
Before I’m even up I recognize the works of Jim Dine and James Rosenquist, one of my favorite artists. And they’re hanging side by side. Wow.
Bliss is this: Seeing art by old school pop artists you like without having to navigate too far into the lovely space of the much better update of a museum in the best city in America when it’s cold outside. Then warming up with paneer pakoras and masala chai.
OK, so:
1. Turn off your computer.
2. Go to SAM.
3. Check out ‘Dishes.’
4. (Optional) Find chai and samosa snack.
5. And tell me what you think.
I’ll be waiting.–DK
