Here are some free art-related events coming up in Seattle town…
DK’s happy hour. Join us at Design Kompany’s happy hour at Vermillion on Tuesday, September 1, at 6:30pm. Free. Good times.
Old German art at the Frye Art Museum. Jo-Anne Birnie Danzker, the newly appointed director of the Frye Art Museum, honors the founders’ vision with a selection from the Museum’s Founding Collection. The exhibition’s called “Living Legacy.” Just FYI, Charles Frye’s dream to bequeath the collection to the people of Seattle became a reality in 1952 when the Frye Art Museum opened to the public. More factual stuff like this at the Frye’s website.
MoviesI know I already posted about this, but go see In the Loop at Harvard Exit. It’s just so, soooo funny. Plus, I’m still thinking about the message. Always a good sign.
Blitz! will be on the second Thursday of the month, September 10. Blitz! is the new name for the Capitol Hill Arts Walk, which Design Kompany designed Blitz’s posters and postcards this summer in collaboration with one of our past clients, the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber hired DK when they started in 2006 for brand identity design. Cool, huh? It’s one of our most popular designs. Anyways! More about Blitz is at:
- the Blitz Capitol Hill website
- on their page on Facebook
and
I have never had as much fun at art walk as I did at Blitz! Honestly! And if you like art walks, there’s also First Thursday in Pioneer Square. Wander around downtown to check out galleries and the SAM from 6 to 8pm. For venues see www.firstthursdayseattle.com
