Sometimes it pays to be negative.
Ouch My Eye gallery in downtown Seattle is having a group show called Apocalypse Now, featuring paintings, sculpture, and multimedia work that are decisively cynical and doom-and-gloom. Opening is tonight.
And, our own Dipika Kohli’s graphic work will be featured in this show.
If you have been following her personal work (“illustrator sketch” series, short-short videos, etc.), you might have detected certain melancholy that often lurks behind the cheery colors and energetic lines. Not to suggest that she’s anything like the much-clichéd archetype of tortured-soul artists, but she did have a collection of work that she had already done that was perfect fit for the theme. I wonder if that’s a good thing…
