Design Kompany got written up this week in Boston University’s college newspaper, the Daily Free Press. A reporter there found our website’s post on the t-shirt design we made for Fremont’s Cascade Bicycle Studio.
I talked to a student reporter at BU about how this was inspired by the stencil t-shirts we made with our 2006 summer intern Alex Hage and his artist friend Luke Kemp. Their t-shirts sold well at Capitol Hill boutiques.
We got so excited about this, we asked Luke and Alex to lead a workshop at DK for people to learn DIY t-shirt design.

Our friend EP, a first-timer at stencil t-shirts, showed all of us up easily, sculpting complex Blackletter typeface linework quickly with a basic Exacto knife. “You’re really good at that,” AM said. EP: “I better be! I’m a plastic surgeon!” –!, DK
