Design Kompany survived a typhoon and a (minor) earthquake on a visit to Japan. Here are some pictures.
I heart Harajuku. You can’t help but like being there to check out the “big city” vibe. It kind of reminds me of Columbus Circle in New York.

Nero. Yeah! There’s even graffiti art in Tokyo!

Modern art. I loved the Mito Bijyutsukan, the art museum. It’s a little place by the beautiful Kairakuen and Samba Park.
Refreshing to see art in a different country. Something I’ve enjoyed in Vancouver and Venice.

Skylines. I love dense urban skylines in all places. The lines make me want to pick up a pen and draw.

graffiti is very good…
Graffiti, done well, can actually be considered public art. Yes!
There is a lot of bad graffiti, too.
Kind of like logo design. Done well, it’s art. But there’s a lot of terrible stuff out there that just doesn’t know it’s terrible.
Dipika — I love your writing and perspective! The dense skyline pic has a great feeling in it…so stark and cold…but yet makes me want to pick up a pen and draw it too! AND…I don’t even draw! HAAHA!
