
Here are some pics from the art opening at the Bemis Building earlier this month. The location’s so cool, right next to Safeco field and also the train tracks. People live and work in these artist lofts:

But a lot of people we met say they just work there—it’s a little like you have to be a bachelor/ette or in your 20s to really enjoy living there. On someone’s fridge there was a schedule of the Seattle Mariners. That made me smile.
We got to see some really cool variety—super sharp photography, mood landscapes in oils, some psychedelic abstracts that spelled out sort-of hidden messages (I’m not kidding!), and these:
Therese Buchmiller’s work really appealed to DK. Maybe because it’s modern and DIY, like Beautiful Simple. Maybe because it’s colorful and heartwarming. But I think what it is, is that it’s just a little unexpected.
