A new show opens today at SAM.

To those who like the paintings of Edward Hopper, this is one to see. I’ve never gotten the chance to check out a collection of Hopper’s works, so I’m especially psyched to stop by SAM sometime before the end of February 2009 to see what’s going on. Lovely paintings.
And it’ll be neat to see them in real life, not the renderings you see on calendars and posters in stores in college towns.
One gripe, though: “Edward Hopper’s ‘Women’?” What kind of title is that? It’s an irritating one, that’s what.
You don’t hear curators going around titling stuff “Georgia O’Keeffe’s Men” or anything like that. Do you?

It was quite lovely but a little underwhelming - let me know if you want to go sometime, I have member tickets!
Thanks, Biju. I actually went yesterday. I guess I couldn’t wait.
It was incredible to see ‘Chop Suey’ in real life, after many years of anticipation.
Sadly, I couldn’t find the James Rosenquist piece I’d been so excited to find last time I was at SAM. Alas.
