
The other day we saw Medeski Martin Wood + John Scofield, who’s still A-Goin’ years after Akira and I caught him for the first time at Ziggy’s in Winston-Salem. I’ve missed jazz. Especially since the Brooklyn days. When I worked for a tiny record store and categorized bazillions of Blue Note and other vinyls.
This illustration is inspired by the sounds of juxtaposed stuffs coming together in fast, fusion–improv style. Contemporary. Continuous. Contemplative. And, at times, confusing. Consider Evan Parker, for example, who’s rumored to be able to breathe circularly.
