Designers’ Korner: July 2 at Stumbling Monk

KunderaKornerDesign Kompany friends and colleagues are invited to join us for happy hour on Monday, July 2 at the Belgian beer specialty pub Stumbling Monk.

We’ll be discussing art, math, philosophy, and how to set up action scripts in Flash.

We’ll start a book club, reading Milan Kundera’s The Joke.

No, just kidding.

Actually, we’re going to talk about K’s Life is Elsewhere.

Or find it, wherever it is.

    Hello Akira & Dipika–

I’d say your Designer’s Korner was a success — drawing drinking and conversing with other creatives is always time well spent.

I’m keeping my eye open for an arch enemy now…

    Fantastic to meet you.

Hey Matthew, thanks for coming! Good luck with “making enemies” (you can actually read the whole article here)… I posted a report on the event here. Would it be okay if I moved the whole thread here to under that post?

Thanks so much for hosting this event! I had a great time scaring up idea’s out of my head. I also was wondering if there was going to be a “next time” and if so is there a book in mind?

How about William Sleator’s Interstellar Pig?

“When three unusually attractive young adults rent the summer cottage next door, Barney’s boring vacation at the beach seemingly takes a turn for the better,” says U.S. Penguin Group. Except that they’re aliens and an otherwise innocuous board game turns into a real-life battle. Gripping!

    Interstellar Pig
popped into my head the other day from some black hole that dates back to… 8th grade. I’d forgotten how much I really dug it.

But you know? Sci fi has been a running topic at Designers’ Korner… we’re up for other suggestions if anyone has ‘em.
