3D Collage and Stuff That Moves Around

Bureau

I went to Art Walk downtown for “First Thursday” this month, where I picked up a bunch of colorful postcards of shows and gallery events.

What was neat was wandering into the opening reception for this weird but intriguing animation show at Soil, an artist-run gallery in Pioneer Square. Fantastic stuff. Very inspiring in its illuminating use of sound and space, not just your usual display of visuals by themselves. I used to go to a weekly screening of short films when I was at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, and this sort of reminded me of those experimental and odd, but incredibly memorable reels.

One of the artists, Brent Watanabe, said I could post this image to our site, and I promised I’d link back to his. Check out the show, which runs for another week. Or, you could just read the review in the arts and entertainment section of today’s Seattle PI.
