Since we are all about helping business people identify who they are and come up with a visual identity, I thought I might explain how we got ours.
Around the time we were writing our business plan, this new park opened in our neighborhood. We got excited about having a fresh new place in the Capitol Hill neighborhood to go for inspiration. And that’s what we wanted to be, too. A place to inspire.
We took Cal Anderson Park as our identity’s motif. Green, open spaces remind us of what’s possible. And so, we got our tag line:
Anything is Possible.
What we like to do when we start any design is figure out who our client’s audience is. And what we want to communicate to that group. Once those things are clear, the rest sort of falls into place.
For Design Kompany, we wanted to reach out to people who are in business or thinking about being in business for themselves.
They tend to be pretty interested in the creative process, and like to be challenged to think about things. They are open to most ideas, because they know sometimes the hints of the best ideas can come from other people. They appreciate a smart, sharp and appealing style that’s not overwhelming.

These were the business cards we made in 2006. Look for something new and different in 2008.
