I really miss my comfort latte every morning in Seattle. But I have weaned myself from both caffeine and the Northwest.

If you live in climates where the sky is gray most of the time, as DK did in 2000-2004 in Cork, Ireland, and 2004-2009 in Seattle town, you learn to appreciate warm cozy drinks.
Caffeine is a drug!
I was in denial about this while in Milan, Copenhagen, Venice, and Bologna over the years. And Paris. Going to Paris and not drinking coffee? That’s just like going to Tokyo and not having sushi. (Which I didn’t for a whole year because I thought it was “raw” and “scary.”)
Now that I’ve left Seattle—the pickings are slim. Durham, you guys have nice stuff, but it’s just not like being in a rainy light overcast place where the lattes are perfect anywhere. Way to go Tougo.
DK is off coffee. Even decaf. Decaf, someone wrote somewhere on a blog, “is like kissing your sister.” Ew, ew. I wanted to say something about how if you’re pregnant or cognizant of your own caffeine addition decaf’s actually really nice. But no more for me. Who wants to be irritable? Who wants to be jittery? Not me!
I am going to stick with the thing I had in Ireland. Tea. Lots and lots and lots of herbal and non-caffenaited varieties of tea. Thank you Remedy for introducing me to lovely collages of non-coffee flavor in a warm cup!

I’ll have to chime in here and have y’all know, that I am still neck-deep addicted to lattes and chocolate chip cookies..
