About ten years ago I went to a diner in Manhattan and met a girl with dyed white hair and “Devi Dasi” in her name.
I was like, “Um, that sounds reeeelly Indian.” She did not look Indian. She wasn’t wearing all black like all the rest of us in the place. And that’s when I found out she was from Seattle.
At the time, Seattle seemed like a far away green, wet dot. But after Tokyo (even further) and Cork city (even greener, even wetter), Seattle is where Design Kompany set up for work and play.
You only appreciate it at odd, incalculable intervals–like this glimpse from 15th looking out over downtown.
