Yesterday I went to Sweden.
They have this new bridge called the Oresund that connects Denmark to Sweden. You don’t even have to go through customs, even though there is a sign that says Customs. I panicked for a second because I did not bring my passport along, since it is just like me to lose it on a fine perfectly beautiful day in Sweden. I couldn’t believe how different the vibe was, Copenhagen is sort of rough and tough like NYC, and Malmo, being a smaller town, felt a little more cozy.
I could tell you a zillion things about how Scandinavians like to make their homes cozy, for example with lots of candles and all these cute little Made in the USSR dishwares. OK, maybe not that last part, but you know what I mean.
I found an Internet cafe with Macs! And huge windows so I can peoplewatch and gaze periodically at the old, lovely white facades of buildings!
Here I am at Food&Coffee in Copenhagen (Kobenhavn) listening to Billie Holiday and a couple next to me planning out their day (I think). My plan for the day is to go to the post office and send to Design Kompany Seattle HQ a packet of brochures I picked up on sleek furniture design. Yes. I will be telling you more about that later.
I am a huge fan of trains and bridges, so getting to do both in one fell swoop on the visit from Copenhagen to Malmo was pretty incredulous. This family was in the same section with me, three little girls all dressed up and being well+behaved, chillin’ with their parents, headed out to slightly+cheaper Malmo for a day of shopping. It was quite lovely to sit there with them, like some out of town cousin with Indian blood.
God, writing on a Mac is so incredibly nice. The coffee’s not bad, either. But I’m off to the post office, and then, who knows!
