Catching Dan Marino: Brett Favre’s 421st Touchdown Pass

BrettFavreEven though the greatest quarterback of all time is Philadelphia Eagles QB Randall Cunningham, the Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre just broke an NFL record. Did you guys hear?

Nice pass, Brett!

He broke the most-touchdown-connections record of Dan Marino–the Miami Dolphins quarterback from way the heck back when–and is edging closer to a bunch of other records of Marino’s at what one might call “breakneck” speed.

Favre has won more games (152) and thrown more touchdown passes (422) than any other quarterback in NFL history. He needs 2,656 yards to break Marino’s record for career passing yards and become the holder of every significant passing record in NFL history. -Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Four years of nostalgia for NFL rush back, as I think about who’ll play the Lions at Thanksgiving and who’ll be at Superbowl MCXXIIXVMMCIIIIX or whatever number we’ll be up to in 2008.

And if you thought American football was only of interest to us over here (as I did when Irish publicans switched NFL to hurling), this Favre tidbit got a mention in the International Herald Tribune.

Next time a sports team needs a brand identity, they should most definitely by all means get in touch with us over here at DK.

    Randall Cunningham?

Really? That’s an unexpected pick. That’s cool by me if that’s what you think. I’ve just never heard anyone pick Cunningham as the best QB ever. How interesting!

It’s no secret that my choice would be Favre. Brett is first in wins, he is first in TD passes, he is first in passing yards, he is first in passes thrown and completed, he is first in consecutive starts, and he is first in all-time jersey sales. But it’s for other reasons he’s first with me.

For me, it’s all about how he payed the game. Who has more fun playing football than Brett Favre? Who has more heart? Who has more class? Who has more passion? Who is more real? Who is a better ambassador for the game? That’s why Brett Favre is #1 with me.

Hey, thanks for your post. I enjoyed reading it. You’ll have to post again to let me know your reasons for choosing Cunningham. I’m curious! :)

Sure. Here are the reasons why I like Randall Cunningham.

    Light on his feet.
Not afraid to run it. Dainty QBs are no fun. I got into football at a time when practically no one wanted to risk a run. Cunningham could float.
Even if you say Favre’s sold more jerseys than anyone, I am the proud owner of an XXL Eagles #12.

Randall was a total legend. Those who had the lucky opportunity to catch up with him first hand will never forget his lung bursting runs..!

Yeah! That’s what I’m talking about!

Joe Montana, hands down. Randall Cunningham isn’t even the best scrambling quarterback of all time and his career was short-lived.

    Cunningham? lol

He had enough problems keeping his starting job! How soon we forget I guess!
