In Search of Meaning (19): Charles Darnay

It was pretty random.
Yesterday Design Kompany met two 18th-century British literature professors.
“OH!” I said. “A Tale of Two Cities is my favorite book!”
“Really?! What do you like about it?” came the delighted and somewhat incredulous reply.
And that’s when I realized what I love so much about this book. It takes you through every shade […]

New venue, new date for Korner

Just to mix things up we’re changing the venue for Designers’ Korner to Vermillion, an art gallery and bar in Capitol Hill. Went there recently to sample the wines and small platters. Food is a big reason we’re moving the venue. Also, new environments bring new energy. All of that is good for inspiration.

On The Atlantic redesign

So I saw the new, re-designed cover of The Atlantic magazine in a grocery store the other day, and it was attractive enough to me that I picked it up. What can I say; I am a sucker for heavy, black, gothic typefaces (and of course, the color red).

Hanuman

A film I just found out about is Hanuman.

Here’s the official blurb:

The shortest path between […]

Talk, type, or let’s talk type

Hopper show opens today at SAM

A new show opens today at SAM.

To those who like the paintings of Edward Hopper, this is one to see. I’ve never gotten the chance to check out a collection of Hopper’s works, so I’m especially psyched to stop by SAM sometime before the end of February 2009 to see what’s going on. Lovely paintings. […]
